Located in the center of the city and surrounded by unique and exquisite buildings, Europe Square is one of the most beautiful sites in the center of Batumi. After joining the Assembly of European Regions, the square was named Europe Square, highlighting Georgia’s aspirations towards Europe. Completed in 2007, the statue of Medea is a symbol of Georgia’s ancient ties to Europe, and is also a reminder of Georgia’s cultural connection to many ancient civilizations. The square is a popular area for relaxation among both tourists and locals. The square’s exquisite pairing of restored facades and modern architecture make it a beautiful location to visit during an evening stroll. The square has hosted a myriad of international concerts and has become a central location for New Year’s celebrations due to its festive mood and numerous concert events. Jose Carreras, Andrea Bocelli, Bueno Vistas and other foreign and Georgian celebrities have all performed at Europe Square. Enrique Iglesias performed one of the most distinguished shows at Europe Square as a part of an MTV live concert tour in Georgia-over 50 thousand people attended the event.
